September 7 Deadline for Northeast District Choir Audition Enrollment (optional event for choir members who are
MSHSAA eligible)
September 17 District Choir Auditions for 9-12 grade will be at Hannibal High School on Saturday, Sept. 17. Audition times will be announced the week before auditions, so please plan for the whole day. - if selected, participants will be required to attend the all-day event on Saturday, November 5. Students must be MSHSAA eligible to participate.
September 19-21 Auditions will be held for Legally Blonde after school in the HHS Auditorium. Auditions are open for any HHS student. Materials and more information will be available in the weeks prior to audition. Mrs. Gerling (room 125) and Mrs. Steinhaus can answer any questions.
Sept 29 Deadline for ACDA Honors Choir audition. Students in 9-12 grade may audition for honors ensembles who will rehearse and perform at the American Choral Directors conference in Cincinnati, OH Feb. 22-25, 2023. If chosen, a parent/guardian chaperone would be required to attend, and transportation, hotel and meal costs would be the responsibility of the student’s parents/guardians. Audition and Registration fees will be paid out of the HHS Choir budget.
October 8 A Cappella Singers will be singing with Alumni Member Sifa Bihomora at the Roots and Blues Festival at Stephens Lake Park at 1:00 p.m. We will meet at the entrance at noon. More information will follow.
October 19 Choir Concert and Pizza Party. All three vocal ensembles will perform, as well as groups from Jefferson, Smithton and West Middle Schools. We will do at least one combined piece with everyone at the end of the concert. Pizza will be provided at 4:45 p.m. for those able to join us. We will rehearse at 6:00 p.m. in the HHS Auditorium with all the ensembles and the concert will begin at 7:00. Concert attire will be jeans and the HHS Choir shirt provided.
October 25 A Cappella and Forte Canto will participate in the KOMU Holiday Choirs taping at Missouri Theatre in downtown Columbia. This will happen during the school day at a time to be assigned later. Performance attire will be black pants/skirts (no jeans), black DRESS shoes (no tennis shoes or flip flops) and choir robes.
November 5 District Choir rehearsal and performance and All-State Choir auditions for Junior and Senior District Choir Members at Moberly High School. The bus will leave Hickman at approximately 7:30 a.m. Parents of participating students are encouraged to attend the concert at 5:00 p.m. in Moberly. Students may ride home with parents or return to HHS on the bus.
November 17-19 All School Musical Legally Blonde - 7:00 p.m. in the Hickman High School Auditorium.
December 8 Holiday TV Taping at Rock Bridge during the school day. All three vocal ensembles will be participating. Times will be announced later. Concert attire will be black DRESS pants/skirts (no jeans), black DRESS SHOES
(no tennis shoes or flip flops) and choir robes.
December 8 Winter Concert with Bel Canto and 5th Grade Honors Choir at 7:00 p.m. in the Hickman Auditorium. Students will be required to arrive by 6:30 p.m. for warm-ups. Performance attire will be black DRESS pants/skirts
(no jeans), black DRESS SHOES (no tennis shoes or flip flops) and choir robes.
December 14 A Cappella and Forte Canto, Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble combined rehearsal 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Auditorium.
December 15 Winter Concert with A Cappella, Bel Canto and Forte Canto, Orchestra and Wind Ensemble at 7:00 p.m. in the Hickman Auditorium. Students will be required to arrive by 6:30 p.m. for warm-ups. Performance attire will be black DRESS pants/skirts (no jeans), black DRESS SHOES (no tennis shoes or flip flops) and choir robes.
January 25-28 Missouri Music Educators Conference at Tan-Tar-A, Lake of the Ozarks – All State Ensembles rehearse Wednesday evening – Saturday Morning. Concert is Saturday afternoon.
February 7 Deadline for District Large Ensemble, Solo and Small Ensemble Registration. Students must be MSHSAA eligible to participate.
Feb. 22-25 American Choral Directors Association Conference in Cincinnati, OH. If selected, to Honors Choirs in October students will attend the convention to rehearse and perform. A parent/guardian chaperone is required to attend, and transportation, hotel and meal costs are the responsibility of the student’s parent/guardians. Audition and Registration fees will be paid out of the HHS Choir budget.
March 9 Choral Festival at Battle High School – All Three Ensembles will participate. Times to be announced. This will be during the school day.
March 9-11 Musical Productions Show – (Musical Productions I, II and III) at 7:00 p.m. in the Hickman High School Auditorium.
March 15 State Large Ensemble Music Festival at Hickman. A Cappella and Forte Canto will participate. Students must be MSHSAA eligible to participate. Times to be announced.
March 16 Festival Concert at 7:00 p.m. in the Hickman Auditorium. All three vocal ensembles will perform. Students will be required to arrive by 6:30 p.m. for warm-ups.
March 18 Solo and Small Ensemble District Music Festival at Mexico High School. Students must be MSHSAA eligible to participate. Times to be announced.
April 28 State Small Ensemble and Solo Festival at University of Missouri. Times TBA. Those soloists and small ensembles receiving a “1” rating at District Festival will have the opportunity to perform at State Festival.
April 30 Theatrical Showcase Rehearsal 4:15-6:30 – Acting 3/4 and Musical Productions I, II and III classes.
May 3 Theatrical Showcase Rehearsal 5:00-8:00 p.m. - Acting 3/4 and Musical Productions I, II and III classes.
May 4 Theatrical Showcase Rehearsal 5:00-8:00 p.m. - Acting 3/4 and Musical Productions I, II and III classes.
May 5 Theatrical Showcase and Awards - Acting 3/4 and Musical Productions I, II and III classes will participate in this event at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Students wearing body mics should arrive by 5:30 for mic checks. Others will arrive at 6:00 warm-ups.
May 10 Spring Choir Concert at 7:00 p.m. in the HHS Auditorium. Students will be required to arrive by 6:30 p.m. for warm-ups. A Cappella, Bel Canto and Forte Canto Ensemble will perform.
May 19 Graduation Ensemble (Choir and Musical Productions Seniors) will rehearse at Mizzou Arena during the regularly scheduled Graduation Rehearsal at 8:00 a.m. (this will be seniors from A Cappella, Bel Canto, Forte Canto and Musical Productions I, II and III)
May 19 Graduation at 6:00 p.m. at Mizzou Arena – Graduation Ensemble will perform at the beginning of the ceremony.
As opportunities for performance and travel arise, new dates may be added to the calendar.
